As we approach the end of 2019, we’re looking back at some of our most supportive partner businesses and sponsors this year. We’re incredibly thankful for all of the sponsorships and business donations we’ve received this year, and the following businesses went above and beyond to support our organization and the cat community of Metro Detroit.
Rippling Hope – Detroit, MI
Rippling Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to owner-occupied home improvement measures in Detroit. While the staff at Rippling Hope has their own nonprofit to manage, they made generous donations of money, time, and resources, and helped the Ferndale Cat Shelter and Catfe Lounge with fostering cats, supply storage, and carpentry during the recent expansion of the Catfe Lounge.
In 2019, Rippling Hope’s team fostered Savannah and her babies Basil, Sage, and Rosemary. Back in 2018, the organization’s Executive Director, Rev. Carl E. Zerweck III, even adopted two visually impaired kittens from the Ferndale Cat Shelter: Tulip and Daffodil. You can read about Carl’s experience with adopting Tulip and Daffodil here.
Hodges Subaru – Ferndale, MI
When we kicked off our new sponsorship program at the beginning of 2019, Hodges Subaru in Ferndale was the first business to sign up. We’d like to extend Nichole Garcia and the rest of the Hodges team for being the first company to sponsor a litter of kittens and offering a generous monetary donation before kitten season took off in the spring.
In addition to the Ferndale Cat Shelter, Hodges Subaru is a routine supporter of I Heart Dogs Rescue and Animal Haven in Warren, MI. If you’re looking for a car dealership that’s passionate about animal welfare in our community and has a strong sense of social responsibility, Hodges is the place to go. Hodges’ donations to the Ferndale Cat Shelter this year helped to support momma Moon and her three kittens: Winston, Wesley, and Anita.
HIPS Resale Boutique – Clawson, MI
HIPS Resale Boutique is a plus-size resale clothing store in downtown Clawson that offers stylish, like-new clothing, seasonal trends, and unique finds. On June 29, 2019, HIPS Resale Boutique held “Caturday at Hips” – an all-day event at their store that included a raffle, donations for each sale, cat-themed refreshments, and a visit from an FCS foster kitten named Tortie.
Along with “Caturday,” HIPS held a month-long in-store fundraiser for the Ferndale Cat Shelter and a Facebook fundraiser. Through their donations and generosity, HIPS raised enough to support a litter of six kittens, which they named Daisy, Violet, Willow, Sage, Basil, and Clover. Thank you to HIPS’ manager Heather Ducharme for coordinating the Caturday fundraiser and for being a regular attendee of Cat Bingo at the Catfe!
Ale Mary’s and Tom’s Oyster Bar – Royal Oak, MI
Our annual Cat Cabaret event wouldn’t have been a success in 2019 without the support from Nick Ritts and his team over at Ale Mary’s and Tom’s Oyster Bar in Royal Oak. Their team offered incredibly generous monetary donations to help us host the event at The Magic Bag in Ferndale, and offered up raffle items to boot.
We’d like to extend a big thank you to Nick and his team over at Ale Mary’s and Tom’s Oyster Bar for their timely support of our biggest annual fundraiser!
