FERNDALE, Mich.  –  The Ferndale Cat Shelter (FCS) is announcing a change in leadership following the annual position elections held by the Board of Directors on October 22nd.

Dr. Will Powers will no longer serve as president or as a member of the Board of Directors of the organization and will be replaced by Angela Fisher, co-founder and long-time board member of the Ferndale Cat Shelter. Fisher has been elected to serve as president of the organization leading into 2019, while board member Jennifer Andras was voted in as Vice President.

Serving as president since 2016, Dr. Powers’ leadership and support helped the FCS and Catfe Lounge to expand and refine its adoption, foster, and trap-neuter-return efforts over the past two years. The Board of Directors would like to thank Dr. Powers for his commitment to the Ferndale Cat Shelter’s mission and his advocacy for the Metro Detroit cat community, and wishes Dr. Powers well in his future endeavors.

The organization’s Board of Directors previously had eight voting members, but the board has been reduced to seven as a result of the election. All leadership changes were effective immediately following the October 22nd board meeting.

Founded in 2014, FCS is a non-profit, no-kill cat sanctuary that operates entirely on support and donations from the community to provide low-cost adoptions of fully vetted, microchipped cats and kittens, and a trap-neuter-release (TNR) program to reduce the feral cat population. In 2015, the FCS expanded to include the Catfé Lounge, 821 Livernois St., the first permanent cat café in Michigan.
